We have seen you playing live at Dunk!festival and were pretty blown away by your performance. But when coming home there wasn’t a lot to find about Le Seul Elément on the internet. Is this a conscious choice  to stay low profile or are there other reasons for that?

First of all thanks for the compliment, and no, it isn't a conscious choice. I’m just too lazy for this kind of stuff, I'm very bad in communication but things are moving on. There will be a pretty website soon!

We hear classical piano pieces  in a progressive form being combined with noise samples and heavy drums from time to time. How would you describe your music and what do you hope to bring with your music?

I try to make an alliance of two important things to create my music; beauty and power.
Generally, piano for emotional times and noise and drum to bring the power. When I'm listening to strange sounds in a song I'm confined, locked, wondering. It reminds me of sad things but when the music is evolving, when it grows, when strength comes to transform the music in pure violence, my sadness transforms. I try to describe this process  in my music and transform the strongest emotions into sounds.
I play alone, so the music is repetitive (I’m playing with a looper, rarely with melodic sequences), as well as progressive, a little “tribal” even because I like ternary rhythm. I’m actually not pianist but a drummer!
I don't really want to bring anything with my music, just express my feelings but, it's true, I'm happy when people say to me they like it. I always try to give different shows, I always want to create different things, because in music it's often the same; guitar, bass and drum...
I come from the punk/hardcore scene, and for me, it wasn’t satisfying anymore. It's the same for post rock music. Too many bands are identical, they have the same way to choose instruments, effects and ways of writing songs. I wanted to create a wall between me and the audience. It felt as my duty to conceive an iconoclast artistic project!

What does Gin Pleos mean for you as it is a non existing word? How did you come up with the name?
Gin Pleos was the name of an old song of me. The creation of the songs on the EP were really different but always during night, and always when I felt sad. The EP speaks about a switch in life, and I wanted to take this title to symbolize that. You can listen to the old song via http://www.myspace.com/number1ambiance1

Which artists have inspired you to make Le Seul Elément sound like it sounds now?
First of all William Sheller (“Epure” is the most beautiful album I ever heard..) and many other artists like Neurosis, Phillip Glass, Paris Violence, Joy Division, Kate Bush and some other bands in the crust, hardcore scene..

What inspires you in life general?
I'm inspired by strong emotions, changes that are part of life, complexes and distorted visions of hurt persons.

What are the lyrics about at the end of Gin Pleos part 1 &2?
It's the speech of the person pictured on the cover. Gin Pleos is the story of the last part of the life of this man. He thought he had a good life, straight, square, normal.. but then realized he could have been a better person, and live more with and for others. This remembers him that he's going to die without having known real love, without feeling true compassion. So he becomes mad, and has a dream, the dream to get another chance, a chance to be 25 years old again. The speech expresses this new thinking.

Are there plans to bring out a full album?
Yes! I'm entering the studio in two weeks, so a full album release will be available in september I hope.

What are your ambitions with Le Seul Elément the forthcoming year?
It’s my dream to create a band with Le Seul Elément with strings, two drums, guitars... And I 'm going to try and work more on my presentations.
