Fresh from supporting Blur at Wembley Stadium, Sleaford Mods are getting set for some of their biggest ever UK and Europe dates this autumn with the release of a new six track EP MORE UK GRIM, on October 20, 2024.

Recorded at the same time as their acclaimed 2023 album UK GRIM, the freshly released songs continue Andrew Fearn and Jason Williamson’s dance floor dominance. With their signature mix of insight, wit, outrage and compassion, they critique and celebrate our turbulent times. Lead single 'Big Pharma’ features the same ‘take no prisoners’ lyrical approach as their most recent album while it casts a doubtful eye down the ‘truther’ wormhole. Entwined around a slinky bass riff, the track displays the two-piece at their most musically dexterous. The track is accompanied by a sharply satirical animated video directed by Sean Sears, who has applied his distinctive, stylized vision to examining the consequences of a health ‘philosophy’ that prizes drinking urine over carefully researched medical treatments.

“Big Pharma was written in the opening chapters of autumn 2022 when Covid kicked in again. It carries a lot of the normal Sleaford Mods absurdism, but also looks at the ongoing fascination with trying to find truths in information wholly pushed by very questionable people,” explains frontman Jason Williamson. “The term ‘Big Pharma’ has been uprooted from its original place, one that rightly threw critique at the pharmaceutical industry as it produced more and more products that would ruin lives on a mass scale. Instead now, Big Pharma is more familiar as a term used by right wing and industrial groups trying to mask the financial aims of their arguments with some kind of critical thinking panache-type legitimacy. It just feels wrong. It feeds on hopelessness, widespread fear and generations of unfettered misinformation linked to the limited critical perception we as the masses are burdened with.”

Williamson adds that Sleaford Mods’ song does not excuse those peddling the terms as part of some sort of faceless political/industrial complex, as it also pokes fun at keyboard warriors who really should engage their own brains before posting. “There has to be lots of personal responsibility held to account too,” he suggests. “Recently Big Pharma has been adopted by the anti trans movement, so you can see that high performance bigotry and personal financial interest are never too far away. Much like the next version of the latest smart phone, the features are largely the same.”

Alongside lead single ‘Big Pharma', the MORE UK GRIM EP also features four previously unavailable tracks, 'Under The Rules', 'Old Nottz', 'PO Crazeh' and 'My 18hr Girdle’. “Old Nottz carries on from tunes like DIY, and centres more on local resentment for Sleaford Mods and my own perceived, helpless fall into material conformity,” explains Williamson. “Under The Rules, carries some of this sentiment, while the title of 18 Hr Girdle was taken from an old 70s advert for women’s girdles and it looks at how male identity, although hard pressed currently under this cloud of Alpha Male dominance, is changing. PO Crazeh is a mesh of absurdist, political one-liners and daft shit, basically – enjoy!”

The EP comes as Fearn and Williamson hit the road next month, kicking off a continent-wide set of European dates before returning to Britain for some of their biggest gigs yet. These include a night at London’s Alexandra Palace on December 2, which boasts on the undercard the duo’s acclaimed labelmates Special Interest, the extremely suave John Grant and “the world’s greatest living stand-up comedian”, Stewart Lee. Electronic titans Hot Chip will also DJ at the show.

Belgische band And Then Came Fall neemt single op, ‘Out of this’ met Michael C. Hall, Hollywood acteur bekend van Dexter, Six Foot Under en Bowie's 'Lazarus' !

Er verschijnt met “Out Of This” een gloednieuwe single, in New York geproduced door Mark Plati (voormalig bandleader en producer van David Bowie).  Als gast vocalist werd de Golden Globe winnaar en zevenvoudig Emmy genomineerde Amerikaanse acteur Michael C. Hall gevraagd. Die was meteen enthousiast over de song en verleende heel graag zijn medewerking. Hall is onder meer bekend van zijn hoofdrollen in succesrijke TV series als “Six Foot Under” en “Dexter”. In 2015/17 vertolkte hij Off- Broadway in de New York Theatre Workshop én in de Londense West End de hoofdrol van de musical ‘Lazarus’ waarvoor David Bowie de muziek schreef, in een regie van Ivo Van Hove.

‘Out of This’ is ongetwijfeld in een nieuw hoogtepunt in het oeuvre van And Then Came Fall,  een meeslepende song over het einde van een relatie, een familie die uit elkaar wordt gehaald met alle verdriet, spijt en twijfel dat daarbij kijken komt.

De kern van And Then Came Fall bestaat uit het duo songwriter/zangeres Annelies Tanghe en gitarist/componist Sam Pieter Janssens. Deze Belgische band laveert tussen Alt-folkrock  en Dreampop waarbij gitaren en electronica elkaar vinden in sterke, intense en toegankelijke songs, gedragen door de fluwelen stem van Tanghe.

And Then Came Fall heeft twee door fans en pers zeer goed onthaalde albums op hun actief. Het titelloos debuut verscheen in 2018 in een productie van Koen Gisen en afgelopen voorjaar werd de opvolger “The Art of Love” (Part One & Two) uitgebracht, geproduceerd door David Poltrock

Er zijn  talrijk fel gesmaakte singles uit o.m. “Please Don’t Disappear”,  “Chasing the Sun”, “Love Like Gold”, “Photograph”, "Better" en “Rollercoaster”

Even voorstellen - The Man Up North lanceert eerste single én videoclip

Meer dan een decennium geleden begon The Man Up North met roots in Leuven aan een wervelende muzikale trip. Zo konden ze optreden in het STUK (Leuven), Het Depot, AB en Bruksellive. Hun winst als Beste Live Act tijdens de Music Exposure Awards in 2011 opende zelfs de deuren van de befaamde Cargo Club in Londen. De band maakte ook indruk in Humo’s Rock Rally in 2012.

De samenwerking met producer Luuc Cox (Shameboy) resulteerde daarna in een eerste EP. In 2018 brachten ze de single "Transform" uit, geproduceerd door Reinhard Vanbergen. Als muzikant verdiende Reinhard zijn sporen bij Das Pop en Rheinzand, maar hij werkte ook mee als producer aan platen van Lady Linn, Portland, School is cool, en zoveel meer.

De samenwerking met Reinhard Vanbergen zette zich voort, en de bandleden, die inmiddels wat meer maturiteit hadden opgedaan, vonden een volwassen geluid en creëerden een album dat nu gedeeld mag worden. HUMO schreef alvast een lovende eerste recensie: "The Horrors ontmoet Leonard Cohen ontmoet Interpol. Even opwindend als doordacht. Gedurende dertien nummers houden ze een perfecte balans tussen indierock en subtiele psychedelica."

Hun geluid is als een combinatie van The National en Interpol, met een vleugje Depeche Mode. "Deze langspeler heeft internationale allure en behoort nu al tot een van de meest indrukwekkende albums van 2023."

In juni 2023 presenteerde de band eindelijk hun langverwachte album, met een uitverkochte zaal in Het Depot.
