De Casino, Sint-Niklaas, Lawijtstrijd 2026 – Finn wint Lawijtstrijd 2026
LAWIJTSTRIJD 2026, FINN WINT LAWIJTSTRIJD '26
Daniel Perez (winnaar voorronde 2), FINN (wild card voorronde 1), Mortel (winnaar voorronde 3) en UKUMAR (winnaar voorronde 1) namen het tegen elkaar op tijdens een eclectische en bij momenten turbulente en bloedhete finale in De Casino Concertzaal afgelopen zondag. Als eerste band trad de Hamse Daniel Perez aan met zijn ijzersterke band voor de tweede (!!) show uit hun jonge carrière.
Hou deze elektronische dreamrockers in de gaten, want hun verhaal is nog lang niet uit! FINN scheerde vervolgens hoge toppen met haar catchy Nederlandstalige pop. Ook zij was nog maar toe aan haar vijfde concert en had de toeschouwers zeer snel mee tijdens een gevarieerde set. UKUMAR zorgde voor een verrassende en eclectische set vol daverende bassen en scheurende gitaren. Dit Sint-Niklase alternatieve duo is klaar om elke club vakkundig te slopen. Als laatste kwam het Lokerse Mortel aan de beurt met hun stevige bluesrock en bebloede frontman die Jim Morrison deed herrijzen tijdens een bezwerende set. Zij brachten de meeste fans op de been en lieten de daverende concertzaal uit hun hand eten.
WINNAAR LAWIJTSTRIJD 2026
De 13-koppige jury verkoos de uit Sint-Niklaas afkomstige FINN (Teerlinck) als winnaar van LAWIJTSTRIJD '26. De 19-jarige studeerde af aan DE!Kunsthumaniora in Antwerpen en studeert ondertussen songwriting aan Codarts Rotterdam waar ze aan haar eigenzinnig project werkt. Ze brengt haar liefde voor poëzie, onze Nederlandse taal en elektronische muziek samen in haar sound. Elke noot legt iets van haar wereld bloot en haar muziek beweegt van fragiel naar fel en van breekbare melodieën naar elektronische pop.
FINN stond in oktober 2025 voor het eerst op het podium met haar zelfgeschreven nummers in de voorrondes van Soundtrack Oost-Vlaanderen, waar ze doorstootte naar de finale.
Voor haar koos de jury als winnaar omwille van haar présence on stage, de dynamische, energieke en originele show die de toeschouwers konden bekoren en de eigentijdse, catchy en relevante pop die ze bracht. De jury gelooft dat FINN bijzonder veel groeipotentieel heeft en moet worden klaargestoomd om de volgende grote popster van dit land te worden!
Ons stage laat ze zich alvast omringen door schoon volk als Willem Theerens (Jokke, Emma Bale, Portland,...) aan de toetsen en Claudio Arduini (Oscar & The Wolf) aan de drums.
FINN wint naast een residentie en podiumkansen in De Casino Concertzaal, een repetitieruimte bij Kompas (Binnenwerk Sint-Niklaas), studiotijd ter waarde van 1000 euro en ook podiumkansen bij onder meer de Lokerse Feesten en Crammerock worden bekeken.
"Als beginnend artiest voelt deze overwinning heel goed. Herkenning en ondersteuning krijgen van de favoriete concertzaal in mijn hometown is waanzinnig. Het was sowieso al een leuk parcours om te mogen ervaren en na de eerste ronde had ik niet meer verwacht om nog de wild card te mogen ontvangen. Vervolgens was ik vooral blij dat ik nog eens mocht optreden. De overwinning maakte het helemaal te gek. Ik ben nog niet zo lang bezig en om dan al deze kans te krijgen, is te gek voor woorden. Het zijn mooie stappen en ik ben blij met de ondersteuning die we krijgen. Deze wedstrijd in het Waasland is perfect voor mij en zal mij altijd herinneren aan de eerste stappen die ik zette in de muziekindustrie. Ik ben hier heel dankbaar voor en heb veel zin in de toekomst en om veel te gaan optreden!" aldus FINN.
De jury bestond naast promotoren en programmatoren van De Casino Concertzaal, Lokerse Feesten en Crammerock uit vertegenwoordigers van de betrokken jeugdhuizen (De Nest, Jeugdhuis Okapi en De Cramme) en Jasper de Petter (Ronker), Michiel De Malsche (componist/producer) en Fonny De Wulf (componist/producer).
PUBLIEKSPRIJS LAWIJTSTRIJD 2026
De publieksprijs werd mee naar huis genomen door de heren van Mortel. Zij brachten de meeste fans op de been en legden zelfs een bus in vanuit Lokeren. Met deze energieke slotshow kunnen zij elk podium afsluiten de komende maanden. Maar liefst 115,7 decibels wisten hun fans samen te schreeuwen tijdens een emotionele prijsuitreiking. Zij keerden huiswaarts met 1000 euro aan instrumenten en audio-materiaal.
HET GOUDEN OOR LAWIJTSTRIJD 2026
Tot slot was er de uitreiking van Het Gouden Oor voor de meest visionaire bezoek(st)er die kon raden wie Lawijtstrijd '26 kon winnen. Deze werd geloot uit de juist geraden bezoekers en uiteindelijk gewonnen door Mevrouw Colman uit Sint-Niklaas. Zij keert huiswaarts met 1 abonnement dat 1 jaar langs gratis toegang tot alle concerten van De Casino Concertzaal verschaft.
"Met 87 deelnemende bands was LAWIJTSTRIJD '26 opnieuw een groot succes. Speciaal voor de wedstrijd werden bands gevormd, nummers geschreven en herschreven. In de meest uiteenlopende genres en met bakken kwaliteit. Uiteindelijk bestond de finale uit 4 zeer diverse projecten en dat mochten er dit jaar gerust opnieuw 6 zijn geweest. FINN die de eerste voorronde niet overleefde, maar uiteindelijk toch dankzij de wild card de finale haalde won uiteindelijk LAWIJTSTRIJD '26. Soms ging het er bijzonder pittig aan toe. Tijdens de concerten in de moshpit of al crowdsurfend. En tijdens de bekendmakingen van de winnaars waarbij het bier soms rijkelijk… in de lucht of tegen de presentator zijn bakkes knalde. Gelukkig was er ook veel onderlinge liefde. Voor de bands! Voor de muziek! En voor elkaar, want ook muzikale banden werden gesmeed."
"Laat ons nogmaals herhalen dat de finale van LAWIJTSTRIJD '26 geen eindpunt is, maar een begin. De opzet is om individuele muzikanten en groepen, bands en ensembles uit het Waasland te ondersteunen en te promoten. Daarbij stellen we ons tot doel om de betreffende muziekscène een forum te verschaffen. Daarin zijn we opnieuw geslaagd, want LAWIJDSTRIJD leefde opnieuw (bleek onder meer uit de wekelijkse - kranten - artikels)! De muzikale diversiteit en de hoge concentratie aan muzikale creativiteit die in het Waasland heersen bij een breed publiek hebben we kenbaar kunnen maken en een positieve en professionele omgeving waarin individuele muzikanten, groepen en bands zich kunnen uiten, is gecreëerd. We gaan nu verder werken met deze bands en bekijken waar mogelijk we ze podiumkansen en residenties kunnen aanbieden in De Casino. Als voorprogramma, in De Casino Café of als volwaardige act. Met de bands houden we contact en we proberen hen te ondersteunen waar mogelijk. Aan de bands die niet hebben gewonnen, willen we duidelijk meegeven dat ze zich niet mogen laten ontmoedigen. We hopen dat zij zich voor een volgende editie opnieuw kandidaat stellen en ervoor blijven gaan, want 1 ding is zeker: er liggen nog steeds een pak muzikale parels op ons te wachten in het Waasland! Finn smelt poëzie, de Nederlandse taal en elektronische klanken samen tot een sound die haar volledig eigen is. Glen Hansard announced Don+t Settle - Transmissions West, the second volume of his new album Don+t Settle - Transmissions East & West, will be released on June 26th, 2026, via Plateau/Secretly Distribution. Recorded over two nights in April 2025 in front of an audience at Berlin’s historic Funkhaus, the album’s 20-song tracklist features live reinterpretations of songs from across his esteemed career, including his four solo albums, his work with The Frames, as well as half of the Oscar-winning duo The Swell Season (with Markéta Irglová). Don+t Settle - Transmissions East & West as a whole encapsulates multiple things at once: a career retrospective opus, a ‘Best Of’ collection, a live record, and a new studio album. To celebrate the announcement of Transmissions West (Vol. 2), Hansard has also shared the single “Revelate” alongside a live performance video filmed at Funkhaus during recording.
“‘Revelate’ is an arms to the sky plea for an intervention. At a time of great disappointment and disillusionment, I needed an answer. Was everything I ever wished for and actively moved toward suddenly gone from my grasp? It was the early ‘90s and we (The Frames) had just been unceremoniously let go (dropped) from Island Records. Which was a shock and huge injury,” Hansard explains of the song’s origins. “I’d been signed by the legendary Chris Blackwell to island records just two years previous. And all of my interactions with him were incredibly positive. I later discovered Chris had semi-retired and we were simply part of the general clean up or clear out that happens occasionally in such companies, that are bought and sold and restructured all the time. What they overlook or choose not to see is the young lives and dreams that are directly affected by ‘it’s just business’ anyway. No one was gonna tell me we were done. And we dealt with the earthquake the way any artist must. We wrote our way through it. ‘Revelate’ was the first single from our second and self funded album Fitzcarraldo. Every song is a ‘fuck you’ to anyone who dismissed us. I stand by it and sing it proudly to this day.”
Transmissions East (Vol. 1) was released on April 24th, and saw high praise and support from WAMU/NPR 1A (interview), SPIN (interview), CBB-FM (interview), Under The Radar, Mojo, Uncut, and more–while his predominantly sold-out tour in support of the album received rave live reviews from the Chicago Sun-Times, among others. Hansard recently wrapped a U.K. / EU headline tour in support of Vol. 1 and has a number of tour dates remaining in 2026, including a hometown Dublin in-store performance/signing at Tower Records on July 1st and a show at Trinity College on July 2nd. The current itinerary is below.
Both volumes of Don+t Settle - Transmissions East & West feature no vocal overdubs, second takes, autotune, or editing–brilliantly showcasing the breadth of Hansard’s talents and songwriting. In all, the album feels like an important demarcation point in an already storied career, with Hansard looking backwards within his creative path while he moves forward–‘transmissions’ both from his past and to his future.

Holy Wave have been key players in the Austin, Texas rock scene for over a decade. Today, the band announce the new full-length, i'm DADA, out July 10, 2026 via Suicide Squeeze Records. They have also shared the single "S33.u.in/HAL," which evolves from shuffling verses to a heavier climax. Recorded in coastal Mexico, it teases the energy of an album that is equally surreal and propulsive.
On the single, Holy Wave's Ryan Fuson shares: “‘s33.u.in/HAL' is like a prayer to the God of shortcomings, a child God that we are raising to one day be our savior. It was one of the first ideas we worked on for the album, but also one of the last songs we finished. I was listening to a lot of Wagon Christ at the time and wanted the song to basically be a Wagon Christ rip-off, but it just didn’t feel right. Big surprise, that was a tall order. So the song was shelved to the ‘maybe the next album’ part of the new song catalog. Then, late in our demoing phase, Joey and Julian showed up to practice with some ideas for it. We played around with them, and the song literally just started to write itself. We finished that day with essentially the song done, sans lyrics and some finishing details, and it instantly became one of our favorites. I still hope we put out the other version some day, but this is by far the better of the two.”
In Ensenada, Mexico, where the Pacific horizon cuts a clean, unwavering line, Holy Wave recorded their latest full-length, i’m DADA, a record that feels both expansive and newly concentrated for the subterranean pop four-piece. Stepping outside the United States was less a retreat than a shift in perspective, creating distance to recognize a new sound that had been slowly taking shape among them. i’m DADA quickly revealed its character: more propulsive, more candid, and their most structurally deliberate work to date.
Working alongside experimental duo Lorelle Meets the Obsolete at their studio El Derrumbe the sessions folded community into the album, though its emotional core had already formed over months of pre-production. Half of Holy Wave is Mexican, with roots in the El Paso border region, so recording in Ensenada felt intuitive and relaxed. Joo Joo Ashworth, mixing engineer and longtime friend, also provided a pivotal presence helping crystallize the album’s rhythmic language and subtly expanding the band’s sound. The songs began reflecting conversations about fatherhood and partnership, breakups and estrangement, the queasy acceleration of AI, and what it means to remain present and principled while the world lurches unpredictably forward.
This tension is not announced but absorbed into the music. Holy Wave stretches their familiar sense of woozy atmosphere into something leaner and more direct. There are more loops and samples woven throughout than before, grooves that feel constructed, cyclical, hypnotic. Some tracks drift toward dub’s elastic spaciousness; others pulse with cinematic downtempo gravity. There is a fresh sense of momentum throughout the record, rhythms that pull forward, dream-saturated textures, sheets of fuzz, and softly suspended vocals.
“dewey’s dirge” unfolds patiently: hazy guitars bloom, a softened motorik pulse moving steadily beneath. The vocals remain submerged, widening rather than exploding. It feels expansive and reflective, a comedown hymn that trades drama for immersion. “i’m DADA,” by contrast, locks into a lean, circular groove. A tight drum figure, rubbery bassline, and clipped guitar phrase repeat until they begin to feel animate. Lyrically, the song circles the complicated devotion of fatherhood, written in a brief pocket of rare solitude for a parent: Always loving (Try to do what’s right) / Always learning (There’s never enough time). “s33.u.in/HAL” plays like a transmission caught midair, faintly mechanical, immersive without ever fully resolving, capturing the album’s central sensation: the act of trying to communicate clearly through static.
If earlier Holy Wave records often felt defined by their sense of drift, i'm DADA feels newly grounded. The album doesn’t abandon immersion; it disciplines it. Grooves settle, repetitions accrue weight, and the music is composed and unshaken amongst its heavier themes. What emerges is not reinvention but a sharpening, with Holy Wave sounding less like a band drifting through atmosphere and more like one deliberately shaping it amongst the chaos.

Gilla Band are happy to share their first new music in nearly four years, the new single “Giraffe” is released by Rough Trade Records. The hugely original and influential Dublin four piece will also be touring the UK / Europe at the start of 2027.
Giraffe is the first new music from Gilla Band in nearly 4 years and to mark this the band are releasing a very limited 7” picture disc.
For over ten years now, the Dublin quartet — vocalist Dara Kiely, guitarist Alan Duggan Borges, bassist Daniel Fox, and drummer Adam Faulkner — have been redefining what you could loosely call “rock music” in the 21st century, influencing a wide swath of similarly forward-thinking guitar acts along the way.
The band perfected a vision that wasn’t quite post-punk, wasn’t quite noise-rock, wasn’t quite anything besides an idiosyncratic, ground-breaking hybrid that could only come from the four of them - Giraffe is their bold new offering.
Front man Dara explains:
“In this track, the first few sections represent what my general headspace is like. It can be a very scattered and sometimes lonely place. Feeling unloved and finding it difficult to articulate what I’m actually thinking.
The outro on the other hand indirectly details a kind of confirmation that affection towards me does exist. While I appreciate it, I still find that hard to believe. “She chased me out the door with a hairbrush demanding that I would wear a suitable jacket.” It’s a very Irish Mammy action. That amount of love is difficult for me to accept but it is a beautiful thing to have in life.”

The Lotto Brussels Jazz Weekend 2026 proved to be unforgettable. More than 450 artists delivered a spectacular three-day musical experience that attracted more than 200.000 visitors to the capital. From sun-drenched performances on the Grote Markt to lively jam sessions in packed bars, the entire city pulsed with music throughout the weekend. And the public also turned out in droves on Sint-Katelijneplein to vote for their favourite emerging jazz band. As a result, GLOMERIS receives the Brussels Jazz Vanguard jury prize, while bruusk. takes home the Brussels Jazz Vanguard People’s Choice Award, making them the very first names to be announced for next year’s edition.
Once again, the festival showcased an ambitious and diverse jazz programme, blending jazz with influences from blues, funk, hip-hop, pop, soul and beyond. Thanks to collaborations with VK, Les Lundis d’Hortense, Greenhouse Talent and the Brussels conservatoires, each festival stage developed its own distinct musical identity: the Grote Markt (Lotto Stage – Contemporary Jazz), Beursplein (OMER Stage – Jazz & Beyond) and Sint-Katelijneplein (Citadines Stage – Next GentStage).
Across 28 bars and in venues throughout the city, audiences enjoyed intimate live performances and — new this year — The Busker Blues Sessions, featuring authentic blues concerts at Les Halles Saint-Géry and The Brasserie.
Brussels Jazz Vanguard crowns GLOMERIS and bruusk. as winners
The Lotto Brussels Jazz Weekend once again proved that the future of Belgian jazz is in excellent hands. Following its successful debut last year, the Brussels Jazz Vanguard talent programme has firmly established itself as a key feature of the festival. Over the course of the weekend, 15 emerging bands took to the stage at Sint-Katelijneplein, each presenting their unique sound to both festival audiences and a professional jury.
And - drum roll please - as this year’s jury prize goes to GLOMERIS, while bruusk. takes home the People’s Choice Award. Both acts will open next year's Lotto Brussels Jazz Weekend 2027, and will receive additional support from our partners, including VOLTA, VI.BE and Court-Circuit

GLOMERIS is a quartet exploring the boundaries between modern jazz, broken beat and hip-hop. Driven by hypnotic rhythms and a strong sense of improvisation, they create an energetic sound where electronic grooves meet acoustic interplay. Their music blends contemporary jazz with club influences, inviting both listening and movement. With their debut EP Caetano, they establish a distinctive sonic identity. bruusk. is the Audience Award Winner 2026
Bruusk is a young jazz ensemble from Ghent driven by a strong urge tob e heard. Rooted in improvisation, their sound blends fusion, afrobeat, Latin, hip-hop and drum ‘n’ bass. Live, the band delivers an energetic and contemporary take on jazz. With original material and a fresh approach, they are set on reaching bigger stages and wider audiences.
Jazz & Brussel: a match made in heaven
Thanks to its wide-ranging programme featuring a host of Brussels-based artists and close collaborations with local Brussels partners, the Lotto Brussels Jazz Weekend has become an integral part of the city’s cultural landscape. Over the course of three days, the festival invited visitors to rediscover Brussels through unexpected encounters, unforgettable concerts and music-filled venues across the city. Pinkpop 2026 – van 19 juni t-m 21 juni 2026 - Pinkpop presenteert: Hoogmis van het Zuiden, een ode aan de Limburgse popmuziek

Pinkpop pakt tijdens haar 55e editie (19 t/m 21 juni 2026) uit met een eenmalige, exclusieve jubileumproductie: Hoogmis van het Zuiden. Een unieke belevenis waarin muziek, humor en traditie samenkomen op de heilige grond van Pinkpop, het podium waar ook 's werelds grootste artiesten staan. Met deze special viert Pinkpop haar 5x11e editie én de bijzondere verbondenheid met de regio.
Op de zondagmiddag verandert de North Stage in het decor van een theatrale en muzikale ode aan de Limburgse popcultuur. Onder regie van Toneelgroep Maastricht-regisseur Servé Hermans brengen toonaangevende artiesten uit de provincie een bijzondere voorstelling waarin concert en theater samensmelten. Jeroen van Koningsbrugge leidt 'de mis' in zijn iconische rol als Pastoor Adriaans (Draadstaal).
Van rock tot vastelaovend
Hoogmis van het Zuiden is een initiatief van het Limburgse duo Träcksäck, gevormd door accordeonist Tren van Enckevort (Rowwen Hèze) en muzikant Bart Storcken, en Pinkpop-directeur Tirsa Creusen. Van Enckevort en Storcken zorgen voor de muzikale invulling.
De voorstelling brengt een indrukwekkende cast van gastartiesten samen, met onder anderen Rowwen Hèze, Beppie Kraft, Lex Uiting, Frans Pollux, Pablo van de Poel (DeWolff), Blackbird en John Tana. Voor het eerst komen daarmee iconische Limburgse muziekstromingen samen op één podium: van rock tot vastelaovend, van klassiek tot pop, van dialect tot Top 2000-klassiekers.
Pinkpop-directeur Tirsa Creusen: "De regio speelt van oudsher een belangrijke rol in het verhaal van Pinkpop, zowel op het podium als achter de schermen. Voor artiesten als Rowwen Hèze, DeWolff en Blackbird vormde het festival een springplank naar landelijke bekendheid. Daarnaast wordt Pinkpop traditioneel geopend door de winnaar van de Limburgse popprijs. In deze streek wordt zoveel prachtige muziek gemaakt die ook nationaal overal wordt meegezongen. We zijn er dan ook trots op dat we deze bijzondere muzikale reis door de provincie op deze unieke manier tot leven kunnen brengen, samen met een geweldige groep artiesten."
Iconisch Limburg op de North Stage
Al meer dan vijf decennia vormt Pinkpop in Landgraaf het decor voor legendarische optredens van wereldsterren en is het uitgegroeid tot een iconische plek voor muziekliefhebbers. Juist die status maakt dat Hoogmis van het Zuiden de vorm van een 'hoogmis' krijgt: een eerbetoon op een plek die voor velen als heilige muziekgrond voelt.
Tegelijkertijd is Pinkpop onlosmakelijk verbonden met de regio. Het succes van het festival wordt mede mogelijk gemaakt door de inzet van duizenden vrijwilligers en lokale verenigingen, die elk jaar met passie bijdragen aan de unieke sfeer en het succes van het evenement.
Creusen: "Wat Pinkpop zo bijzonder maakt, is de gemeenschap erachter. Generaties vrijwilligers dragen bij aan de warmte en toegankelijkheid van het festival. Met Hoogmis van het Zuiden brengen we een ode aan deze gemeenschap en de regio waarin Pinkpop diep geworteld is."
Culturele betekenis van Pinkpop
Volgens regisseur Servé Hermans reikt de betekenis van Pinkpop verder dan muziek alleen: "Net zoals het Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao en Sundance in Utah hun regio internationaal op de kaart zetten, vervult Pinkpop die rol voor Limburg. Het festival trekt jaarlijks een internationaal publiek en heeft grote impact op horeca, toerisme en werkgelegenheid. Het is bijzonder waardevol dat we met Hoogmis van het Zuiden nu ook de culturele kracht van deze regio zélf op dit podium zichtbaar maken."

Over Pinkpop
Pinkpop is het meest iconische festival van Nederland. Al meer dan vijf decennia biedt het festival een podium aan absolute wereldsterren én de legendes van morgen, van The Rolling Stones en Metallica tot Justin Bieber en Olivia Rodrigo. Wat Pinkpop uniek maakt, is de gemoedelijke sfeer waarin generaties samenkomen en verschillende muziekstijlen elkaar vinden.

Royal Juillet Musical de Saint-Hubert 2026, Muzikale ansichtkaarten van 4 tot 26 juli 2026
Het festival Royal Juillet Musical de Saint-Hubert, het Luxemburgse luik van Les Festivals de Wallonie, verwelkomt muziekliefhebbers van 4 tot 26 juli. Naar het thema 'Reizen', de rode draad doorheen de 69e festivaleditie, leest het programma als een reeks ansichtkaarten met uitstapjes naar Italiaanse barok, Russische sacrale muziek, Engelse songs, een hommage aan de John Dowland, de Roemeense Karpaten en de Noorse fjorden. De kick-off is een dubbel openingsconcert met Valère Burnon en Frank Braley. Ook de Belgische tenoren en festivalartiesten van Les Festivals de Wallonie 2026 Pierre Derhet en Maxime Melnik staan op het programma, naast een arrangement voor blazers van Webers opera Der Freischütz. Het festival strijkt zoals steeds neer op bijzondere locaties in de provincie Luxemburg. Denk maar aan het bijna duizend jaar oude kerkje van Waha en de piramidevormige kerk in Libramont. Locals uit de regio zoals Valère Burnon en sopraan Anne-Catherine Gillet staan ook op het programma.

Sarah Julia is een Nederlandse indiefolkband die drijft op hechte zusterband en een opvallend openhartige gevoeligheid. Hun songs balanceren tussen intimiteit en zeggingskracht en geven vorm aan thema's als liefde, verlies en verlangen zonder ooit zwaar te worden.
De band stond al op het podium met onder meer Faye Webster, Jacob Alon en Neil Young, trok door de VS en Europa als support van Paris Paloma en speelde eigen headlineshows in steden als Los Angeles, New York en Londen.
De opmars van Sarah Julia gaat snel, maar voelt tegelijk vanzelfsprekend. Met de EP's 'How Do We Go Back To Being Normal?' (2024) and 'Only Making It Worse' (2025), beide geproduced door Grammy-winnaar Catherine Marks, vonden ze een eigen geluid. Het leverde hen onder meer een plek op binnen Spotify RADAR en een vermelding in YouTube's 100 Artists To Watch 2026. Ook als Spotify EQUAL Ambassador maken ze deel uit van een nieuwe lichting vrouwelijke artiesten die internationaal doorbreekt.
Ook binnen de sector blijft dat niet onopgemerkt. In 2026 wonnen ze de Music Moves Europe Award en een jaar eerder werden ze geselecteerd als Gibson Spotlight Artist. Live waren ze al te zien op sleutelpodia als Eurosonic, Noorderslag en Reeperbahn Festival en deelden ze affiches met onder meer SYML, Mon Rovia en Samia.
In oktober 2026 verschijnt hun debuutalbum 'The Fear That This Is Real', opgenomen in Woodstock met producer Philip Weinrobe (Bigh Thief, Billie Marten, Cass McCombs).
Met een drukke festivalzomer in het vooruitzicht (met passages op Zermatt Unplugged, Bergen Fest, Motel Mozaïque en State Fayre) bouwt Sarah Julia gestaag verder aan een verhaal waarin kwetsbaarheid en kracht moeiteloos samengaan en waarin ingetogen songs blijven nazinderen.

WHATEVER IT TAKES (BREAK YOUR HEART)
"Whatever It Takes (Break Your Heart)" is de tweede single uit Sarah Julia's aankomende album 'The Fear That This Is Real'. De folkpoptrack gaat over een relatie waarin de ander je maar half tegemoetkomt. "Hun angst om zich volledig open te stellen houdt jou tegen om je liefde helemaal terug te geven, waardoor jullie allebei blijven vastzitten. Je hoopt dat ze beseffen wat ze zullen verliezen als er niets verandert."
Met het nieuwe album 'The Fear That This' Is Real creëert Sarah Julia haar meest coherente muzikale wereld tot nu toe: een harmoniegedreven zussenduo dat schrijft met emotionele directheid en zonder omwegen. De plaat werd opgenomen in Woodstock met producer Philip Weinrobe (Bigh Thief, Billie Marten, Cass McCombs), in een snelle, collectieve setting zonder hoofdtelefoons, waardoor alles menselijk en dichtbij blijft aanvoelen.
Het album bevindt zich in dat fragiele tussengebied waarin je al voelt dat er iets fundamenteel veranderd is, maar het benoemen ervan het onomkeerbaar zou maken. Warm, lichtjes spookachtig en cinematografisch: een plaat die uitnodigt tot herbeluisteren, net omdat de vragen blijven nazinderen lang nadat de muziek is gestopt.
