Volgend op de release van haar nieuwe album 'The Meaning of Flowers' op 18 september kondigt Agnes Obel een nieuwe Europese tournee aan. Na haar twee uitverkochte Belgische shows in 2025 keert de Deense pianiste en componiste terug naar ons land. Op 2 en 3 november 2027 geeft ze twee exclusieve concerten: in Bozar in Brussel en in de Stadsschouwburg in Antwerpen.

Agnes Obel is zangeres, pianiste, componiste en producente. Ze brak bij het grote publiek door met de platina-albums 'Philharmonics' en 'Aventine'. Haar unieke stijl combineert verfijnde instrumentale klanken met een filmische sfeer en een strakke productie. Zo werd ze een vaste waarde in het hedendaagse muzieklandschap. Sinds 'Citizen of Glass' uit 2016 verrijkt ze haar nummers met ijle, elektronische geluiden, waarmee ze haar herkenbare en internationaal geprezen stijl versterkt. In 2020 bracht ze haar vierde album 'Myopia' uit. Net als al haar vorige werk schreef, verzorgde en producete ze deze plaat volledig zelf in haar Berlijnse studio. Na vijf jaar afwezigheid maakte de artieste in 2025 haar comeback op het podium. Dat vierde ze onder meer met twee uitverkochte concerten in het Koninklijk Circus in Brussel en de Stadsschouwburg in Antwerpen. Nu maakt Agnes Obel zich klaar om nieuw werk te delen. Op 18 september 2026 verschijnt 'The Meaning of Flowers', haar eerste album in zes jaar. De plaat ontstond uit een reflectie op de emotionele impact van het moederschap en is opgedragen aan haar dochter. Obel haalde haar inspiratie uit heel uiteenlopende bronnen: van de poëzie van Enheduanna, beschouwd als de eerste bekende vrouwelijke auteur uit de geschiedenis, en het werk van filosofen als Hannah Arendt en Emanuele Coccia, tot de Deense popmuziek uit de jaren 80 en 90. 'The Meaning of Flowers' belooft dan ook een intiem én ambitieus album te worden. In het najaar van 2027 kunnen Belgische fans dit nieuwe muzikale hoofdstuk live ontdekken.

Unday records news - Hendrik Lasure laat zich gewillig vangen op 'Prooi', zijn nieuwe single

Hendrik Lasure duikt opnieuw op onder eigen naam. Op 'Prooi' neemt hij ons mee naar een verweerd kasteeldomein, waar een nachtelijke indringer zich schuilhoudt in het natte gras, hij zoekt er iets. Wat begint als stiekeme fascinatie, kantelt gaandeweg in volledige overgave: de jager wil prooi worden.

Een behoorlijk duister decor dus, en ook muzikaal zoekt Lasure de schaduw op. Door 'Prooi' tikt een holle drumbox, omringd door synthesizers en warme, volle gitaren die het nummer iets van de grungy jaren nul meegeven. Zelf neemt Lasure gitaar, synth, drumbox en piano voor zijn rekening. Met Meskerem Mees op bas en Jolan Decaestecker (Ão) op elektrische gitaar krijgt hij gezelschap van twee muzikanten die evengoed hun eigen muzikale wereld meebrengen. Sep François op marimba en Aya Suzuki op vibrafoon en glockenspiel maken het plaatje compleet. Koen Gisen produceerde en mixte de single.

'Prooi' is Lasures eerste nieuwe muziek onder eigen naam sinds 'Het Wiel' uit 2022. De pianist en componist had toen al een stevige reputatie opgebouwd in de Belgische jazzscene, onder meer bij schntzl, Bombataz en An Pierlé Quartet, maar koos voor zijn eerste Nederlandstalige soloplaat bewust een andere route. Achter de piano vandaan, de gitaar om en zingen zoals hij spreekt. De woorden werden het vertrekpunt, met een stem die net zo ongepolijst mocht klinken als zijn dagelijkse spreektaal. Pop, chanson en experiment vonden elkaar zonder zich veel van hun grenzen aan te trekken.

Sindsdien bleef Lasure allerminst stil. Hij dook op als muzikant en componist en maakte muziek voor film en theater, maar solowerk bleef uit. Met Prooi komt daar een einde aan. Een nieuw album volgt in november.

The band comment: "For 'Builder of Eden', we joined forces with one of our biggest inspirations, Loïc Rossetti (ex-The Ocean Collective), to create one of the most monumental and heavy tracks on the album.

"The song follows our nameless protagonist as he violently defies his creator, breaking free from the empty burden of existence thrust upon him.

Since emerging from Mechelen, Belgium, Hippotraktor have steadily carved out a singular artistic identity guided by an enduring commitment to exploration. My Lennis is een (pop)punkband uit Stekene (Waasland). Snelle gitaren, catchy refreinen en bakken energie zorgen voor moderne punk met een knipoog naar de nineties punk scène. Met passages in onder andere Nijdrop, Kinky Star, Cabron en De Casino Café bouwde de band al een stevige live-reputatie op.
In 2025 wonnen de Waaslanders onder meer Bruudruuster’s Nieuwbakken q’Rock, Repmond Rock ZKT. en waren ze één van de finalisten van de Zebrastraat Showcase. Dit jaar waren ze ook geselecteerd voor Lawijtstrijd, hét muziekconcours in het Waasland.

Wide Awake – Single
My Lennis werkte samen met Penthouse Studio (The Priceduifkes, Dad Magic, Captain Kaiser…) om hun tweede EP op te nemen. Voor de pre-productie van deze EP werkte de band samen met Arno De Ruyte van de band SONS. Als tweede single koos My Lennis voor ‘Wide Awake’.
Deze tweede single gaat over een nacht waarin ontsnappen aan de werkelijkheid centraal staat. Het volgt een man die zich verliest in drank, chaos en het nachtleven, zonder stil te staan bij het verleden of de toekomst. Terwijl de stad langzaam tot rust komt, blijft hij rusteloos ronddwalen tussen neonlicht en schaduwen.
In vergelijking met de vorige EP, zet de band nu de (pop) in het genre pop-punk tussen haakjes. Het klinkt namelijk allemaal net iets grauwer en ruwer.

After more than five decades of friendship, musical exchange and separate careers that helped redefine what the electric guitar could do, Joe Satriani and Steve Vai have finally made a record together. The Sea of Emotion, the first studio album from SatchVai, will be released November 6, 2026 via earMUSIC. The announcement arrives alongside the release of "Mayhem," the album's blistering new single, out today.

The story began in 1973, when 13-year-old Steve Vai began taking guitar lessons from his 17-year-old teacher, Joe Satriani, in Long Island. Neither could have known where that shared obsession with the guitar would lead. More than 50 years later, after establishing themselves as solo artists and sharing stages around the world through the legendary G3 tours, they have brought their musical histories together on one album.

"We've been planning this since 1973," Vai says with a laugh. "Just unconsciously."
The album came together after a G3 reunion tour created an unexpected opening in their schedules. What began as a suggestion to record a single track quickly expanded when Satriani sent Vai two finished pieces, "The Sea of Emotion, Part 1" and "Part 2." Vai knew immediately that the time had come.

The process was anything but predictable. Although the two musicians share a deep musical history, similar influences and a lifelong understanding of the guitar, they discovered that they write very differently. That contrast became one of the defining elements of the record, with ideas moving back and forth until the songs took unexpected turns.

"The biggest surprise was that we write in completely different ways," Satriani explains. "And that's what made the project so fun and interesting."

The album brings together two musicians who have spent decades developing unmistakable individual voices, while giving each the freedom to push the other somewhere new. Producer and keyboardist Eric Caudieux helped keep the process honest, while a formidable group of longtime collaborators supplied the rhythm section, including drummers Gregg Bissonette, Jeremy Colson, Kenny Aronoff, Matt Chamberlain and Mike Mangini, and bassists Billy Sheehan, Bryan Beller, Philip Bynoe, Matt Bissonette, Marco Mendoza and Henrik Linder.

Across The Sea of Emotion, SatchVai move from the raw rock 'n' roll of "Mayhem" and "Bronco Freight Train" to the darker, cinematic "Old Sins Have Long Shadows," the unruly swing of "Zoot Suit Riot" and the arena-sized "I Wanna Play My Guitar," featuring legendary singer Glenn Hughes.

At the center of the album is the three-part "The Sea of Emotion" suite, which reaches back to the Carle Place school field where the two teenage musicians once spent time dreaming about music. "The Sea of Emotion, Part 3" even begins with a vintage reel-to-reel recording from one of Vai's early lessons with Satriani, a glimpse of two young guitarists still searching for their voices.

"It illustrates just how far we've come," Satriani says. "We're these two kids who haven't found our sound yet, but we've got enthusiasm. We're chasing something, and we're determined."

For Vai, the album ultimately represents something more personal than a meeting of two celebrated guitarists.

"That's when I really feel, like, wow, we really did it," he says. "It's a beautiful coming together of me and my friend in a very intimate musical way. That was the reason we did the record."

About Joe Satriani
For over three decades, the guitar virtuoso has traveled the world, playing to sold-out crowds as both a headliner and as founder of the all-star "G3" guitar extravaganza.
