Jerry Spin, het alter ego van Gentse popmuzikant Jeroen De Gussem, spint verhalen die je meezuigen in een wereld vol cinematische pop noir. Denk aan een spannende mix van Britpop en indie, met teksten die balanceren tussen speelse ironie en bittere ernst. Jerry Spin valt op dankzij storytelling, satire en een vleugje theatraliteit. In zijn songs vertolkt hij zoekende personages, die worstelen met de liefde, het verleden en de samenleving.
Kenmerkend is ook Jerry Spins visuele identiteit, die het gestileerde, filmische karakter van de muziek versterkt. Zo pakte hij recent fascisme aan in ‘A Landslide Victory for the Fascist Party’ uitgebracht op nationale verkiezingsdag 2024, en sneed hij belastingontduiking aan in ‘Offshores’ van zijn debuut-EP Beasts (2023).
Jerry Spin is een soort verhalenverteller die in de huid kruipt van diverse personages en vanuit hun standpunten songs spint. Op zijn debuut-EP Beasts (2023) nam hij de rol op van bedenkelijke figuren als spindokters, belastingontduikers, deur-aan- deur-verkopers en woekeraars. Theatrale songwriting met een scheutje satire waarin de politieke en financiële wereld het doelwit was.
Sinds de lancering in november 2022 heeft Jerry Spin in een aardig tempo de aandacht weten te trekken. De muziekpers en de professionele muziekscene reageren enthousiast, zowel in binnen- als buitenland. De nummers waren te horen op nationale en internationale radiostations.

De nieuwste single 'Trouble Child' kon vorige week alvast rekenen op mooie steun van Spotify dat de single toevoegde aan de felbegeerde 'New Music Friday BE' playlist (met bijna 45.000 volgers). Ook De Morgen & HUMO voegden de single toe aan hun Spotify-playlist.

Met ‘Trouble Child’ zet Jerry Spin de toon voor zijn debuutplaat ‘Family Man’, die in maart 2026 verschijnt.
Het nummer schetst personages als Robin, Elly en Jim, die elk hun littekens meedragen: Robin ontwikkelde bindingsangst na de scheiding van haar ouders, Elly werd gepest en raakte emotioneel uit balans, en Jim werkte zich uit de armoede omhoog maar pronkt nu uit onzekerheid met zijn rijkdom. De boodschap is duidelijk: diep vanbinnen blijft iedereen datzelfde gekwetste kind van vroeger. Je kunt een kind niet verantwoordelijk houden voor wat het meemaakt of hoe het daar later mee omgaat — uiteindelijk is iedereen “a product of their environment.”
Om dit nummer kracht bij te zetten keerde Jerry Spin voor de visuals terug naar zijn kindertijd.

Hij dook in zijn oude tekendoos en ontdekte hoe tekenen voor hem als kind vroeger een manier was om indrukken te verwerken. Als kind zat hij vaak alleen in een hoekje, volledig bezeten door iets dat hem op dat moment bezighield. Het terug bekijken van de tekeningen heeft Jerry doen realiseren dat muziek vandaag voor hem de plaats inneemt die tekenen toen had: waar hij vroeger met stiften tekende, tekent hij nu met klanken om zichzelf uit te drukken.
Zo brengen de visuals twee werelden en levensperioden samen. Jerry Spin animeerde zijn oude kindertekeningen en verweefde ze met zijn latere muziek: een ontmoeting tussen de kleuter Jeroen en zijn 32-jarige zelf, trouwens zelf maar net vader geworden. Zo werd Trouble Child de song over een tijd waarin hij tekende en over een tijd die hem tekende.

The acclaimed Australian band Boy & Bear today announce their long-awaited new studio album Tripping Over Time, set for release on December 12 via V2 Records.

The album is about embracing life as it is, with all its contradictions, beauty, and chaos. The songs were recorded live, filled with real human energy and emotion. While optimistic in tone, it's not all sunshine and rainbows; it's honest, grounded, and at times raw. Each track carries a subtle tension without ever feeling heavy, inviting listeners to pause and appreciate the world's beauty. If you knew how and when you were going to die, how would it change how you decided to live? With today's announcement of his forthcoming studio record, Croak Dream (out February 6, 2026 via Play It Again Sam), South-London born, Atlanta-based artist Puma Blue – the alias of Jacob Allen – explores the philosophical question through daring lyrical content and bold production, gesturing toward his love of trip-hop, dub techno, jungle and forward-thinking electronic music.

Alongside the announcement, Puma Blue also shares details of a world tour, as well as the lead single and music video "Desire". Originally written & recorded in a hotel room, the raw, visceral sound of "Desire" went on to inspire the entirety of Croak Dream's sonic landscape.

"I didn't have microphones with me or anything," shares Allen about the early creation of the track. "I ended up embracing the raw sound of my guitar recorded with my phone, no amplification. I meant to re-dub it later, but I actually fell in love with how visceral it sounded unplugged, and so I left it as it was. This approach snowballed into an appetite for these gritty and ugly sounds clashing with something more lucid and dream-like.

Sometimes I feel like my music has been chronically shy and so with this song, it just felt time to be bold, let it all hang out, throw the paint around. A lot of recent songs have started this way, lonely and reaching for the guitar the way I did when I was a kid, a sort of old friend. Just using whatever limited tools within my reach. I taught myself guitar on an electric as a teenager and for years we didn't have a guitar amp, so it felt kind of full circle for me.

As for the lyrics, I'm a lover asking his partner to bed, craving what she wants. It's just a love song really. But with jungle breaks"

The full band follow-up to 2023's Holy Waters, which found high praise at NPR, The FADER, Clash, NME, Paste Magazine, FLOOD, Northern Transmissions and more, Croak Dream arrives after that record's conscious pivot from the intimate trappings of his early EPs, as well as Puma Blue's 2021 debut LP In Praise of Shadows. "I discovered what Puma Blue could be if I opened it up more to collaboration," Allen recalls while talking about the achievement Holy Waters represented–but even though work on Croak Dream initially began after touring behind that album had ended, he put a pause on focusing on these boundary-breaking new songs to allow for a creative detour.

Searching for a different form of expression, following the full-throated environs of Holy Waters, he channeled his energy into the tunes that were collected on this year's antichamber as well as its companion release extchamber, which represented a full immersion into acoustic textures and haunting, ethereal vocals. "I've always wanted to be an artist that evolves," he explains, and leaning into the raw, un-edited, songwriting of antichamber spurred a continued creative stream of consciousness, culminating in Croak Dream, his second full-length release in a 12-month span.

"A Croak Dream is a prophetic dream where you see a vision of how you die," shares Allen, "Half the songs on this record allude to how you might decide to live, act, if you somehow knew your awaiting fate. Being daring, romantic... Saying what you really mean.

The resulting record sonically spans the low-slung iridescence of trip-hop, the visceral angst of Radiohead, and Allen's signature vocals; at one moment breathtakingly intimate, before suddenly soaring, as in the patiently building title track—constantly blooming and aching in multiple directions, like gorgeous ivy wrapping itself around ornate structures.

Croak Dream's mesmerizing world of sound was crafted during straight-to-tape sessions at Peter Gabriel's Real World studios with co-producer Sam Petts-Davies (The Smile, Warpaint), in a wonderfully idiosyncratic manner compared to previous Puma Blue recordings. "'I didn't want to record another album like Holy Waters that just captured the sound of a band in a room'" Allen explains—so he and Petts-Davies brought song fragments to the band to improvise over, later fashioning those improv sessions into loops that were worked into the final recordings. The process resulted in a living organism of an album that surprised even those who played on it: "When I sent the band the finished album, it was as if they got to hear themselves playing on these songs for the first time."

"I've put a lot of work into letting go of expectations" Allen continues, while reflecting on how the album captures him in this current moment. "Making this record became like a deep release of breath as I got further away from some of those limitations. My imagination swelled with all this new fire, I fell in love with it all again. It became less a question of what is this? and more like, what else? How far can I push this thing? The result is a daring evolution for Puma Blue, combining bold experimentations with a sharp emotional clarity. It finds Allen at his most instinctive, embracing a memento mori awareness that drives feeling over precision and reveals beauty in distortion and risk.

High Hi kondigt vandaag hun gloednieuwe album Noonday Demon aan, dat op 30 januari verschijnt via [PIAS] Recordings, en lanceert tegelijkertijd de meeslepende nieuwe single The Show.

Meer ingetogen en sfeervol dan de energieke voorgangers Running en ?? How, laat The Show een andere kant van High Hi zien. De band geeft voorrang aan pure emotie boven aanstekelijke energie en laat de indrukwekkende stem van Anne-Sophie Ooghe het voortouw nemen— vooral de ijzingwekkend mooie bridge zal kippenvel bezorgen.

Het is bovendien een van de meest persoonlijke nummers van het aankomende album. Anne-Sophie licht toe: "In de donkere plooien van 2023, toen oude kwelgeesten zachtjes hijgden aan mijn keukenraam en de angsten van de toekomst via de voordeur binnenwandelden, schreef ik deze song. Wat betekent het tegenwoordig nog om als vrouw door deze wereld te wandelen; binnen de grenzen van deze industrie, langs de buitenmuren van mijn land, over de pijnpunten van de cynische tegenwoordige tijd? Zullen we de giftige appel maar gewoon oppeuzelen en de wolven laten jagen? Of bestaat er toch een andere weg... Misschien is het tijd om de poortwachters en luide koningen met mijn zachte, maar kordate vinger het zwijgen op te leggen."

The Show is een uitnodiging om op te staan en je stem te laten horen — een verleidelijke, duistere popparel en een van de hoogtepunten van het nieuwe album.

Ontstaan uit de vruchtbare Belgische underground, met de stille vastberadenheid van een band die precies weet wat ze doet, heeft dit trio gestaag een plek veroverd waar atmosferisch experiment en scherpe popsensibiliteit in perfect evenwicht samenkomen.
Het Antwerpse drietal — Anne-Sophie Ooghe (zang, gitaar), Dieter Beerten (zang, drums) en Koen Weverbergh (bas) — debuteerde met een dromerige, shoegaze-getinte sound die zich op latere releases ontwikkelde tot een verfijnde balans tussen introspectie en aanstekelijke melodieën.
Hun unieke geluid — tegelijk herkenbaar en toch moeilijk in een hokje te plaatsen — trok de aandacht van onder meer M83 en BBC-tastemaker Steve Lamacq, die de band al vroeg een duwtje in de rug gaven.
Met doorbraakplaat Firepool (2020) en het ambitieuzere vervolg Return to Dust (2022) bewees High Hi dat ze constant grenzen verleggen zonder hun toegankelijkheid te verliezen. Hun songs balanceren moeiteloos tussen etherische klanklagen en krachtige ritmes die zich in je hoofd nestelen en niet meer loslaten.
Op het aankomende album Noonday Demon klinkt High Hi als de ontbrekende schakel tussen de grootheden van de jaren tachtig — een geut Fleetwood Mac, een koffietje met ABBA, een stukje Springsteen-taart — en de hedendaagse vernieuwers als Chappell Roan en Lola Young.

The Slovenian music and multimedia group Laibach continue an ongoing series of single releases with a brand new song entitled 'Yom Kippur', which the group have issued in commemoration of the peace agreement to end the war in Gaza. The song is dedicated to all the innocent victims of this conflict, and above all to the tens of thousands of children who have been killed or maimed, as well as to the child victims of all wars.

Yom Kippur is the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, dedicated to repentance, remembrance and the possibility of moral and spiritual renewal. It emphasises collective responsibility, reconciliation and the seeking of forgiveness, not only from God, but also from other people and from history itself. It represents a metaphor for the moment when society looks into the mirror of its own sins and denials, when repentance becomes a collective duty, with the aim of understanding guilt and striving for moral and spiritual renewal.

This song is therefore a requiem dedicated to the innocent victims, but also directed toward the perpetrators and all those who have watched from the sidelines and refused to feel complicit. It speaks of forgotten compassion, a silenced conscience and the responsibility the world continues to evade. In it, Yom Kippur is no longer merely a religious ritual, but a reminder that without reconciliation there is no future. Moreover, without acknowledgment of guilt, there can be no peace or redemption.

'Yom Kippur' follows Laibach's release of their wry German version of 'Die Kanone' (The Cannon), a 50th anniversary reinterpretation of a song by the legendary Bosnian rock band Bijelo Dugme. 2025 has also seen them release 'Alamut' (one of The Quietus' 'Albums of the Year so Far'), as well as several singles from the same series that have included their unique takes on 'I Want To Know What Love Is' by Foreigner and 'Strange Fruit', the song made famous by Billie Holiday.

Enigmatic polymath Keaton Henson has shared two new singles from his highly anticipated new album Parader — the introspective Past It and the incisive Loose Ends. The tracks will be the last to come ahead of the albums release on November 21st via Play It Again Sam.

Parader marks Henson's ninth studio album and his first since 2024's Somnambulant Cycles. It also follows his recent return single Lazy Magician (co-written by Ratboys' Julia Steiner), which was released in July, earning support from the likes of Rolling Stone UK, Crack, The Line Of Best Fit, The New Cue, Stereogum, Under The Radar, and GoldFlakePaint, who said it hinted "at a bold new chapter on the horizon; a restless and romantic re-defining."

Whereas that single nodded to Henson beginning to shed the "quiet boy" persona that has defined much of his career — if we're to omit his myriad efforts composing for film and theatre, an electronic side project, his classical offerings, his illustration and writing work — the new album sees him fully embracing the grunge-infused sounds of his youth. This was expanded upon with his last single Insomnia, which was announced alongside the new album and saw Henson entwining aching self-observation with a defiance he terms as "musical snark".

New songs Past It and Loose Ends capture the two ends of Henson's journey both personally and musically across the forthcoming record. The first, a nostalgia-soaked evaluation of his career as a musician, is delivered through a crackling, lo-fi hum reminiscent of Christian Lee Hutson or Phoebe Bridgers. While awash with self-doubt, the self-reflective daydream is permeated by an understanding of his own needs. "This one's a bit meta," says Henson. "It's me looking at ageing and growing older as a musician. But also reflecting on the whole idea of a 37-year-old man singing the kinds of songs I sing, especially the way I am on this album. Sometimes you can catch your reflection while writing songs and I have these thoughts, usually ending with wondering if anyone will even hear it."

The latter of the two tracks Loose Ends, sees him once again revisiting that musical snark from the last single, carrying a American garage-rock undercurrent in the lurking distortion and its combative rhythm, the taunting cry of "Oh me, oh my" bears an argumentative edge in its sardonic dark tone. Wild God - Album van Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds announce their new live album Live God, the stunning testament to The Wild God Tour, which wowed audiences across the UK, Europe and North America in 2024 and '25. Across 18 live tracks, the album captures the wildly transcendent nature of those unforgettable shows, which were, in Nick Cave's own words, "an antidote to despair."

Due for release on December 5, Live God is available to pre-order now on Premium Double Gatefold LP, Double CD and Digital. The first single 'Wild God (Live God)' is available to stream and download now. Live God will be released on Bad Seed in partnership with Play It Again Sam.

The tracklist includes performances of songs from the acclaimed 2024 studio album Wild God, as well as mind-blowing versions of catalogue favourites, such as From Her To Eternity, Papa Won't Leave You, Henry and Into My Arms.

For its final iteration, The Wild God Tour travels to Australia and New Zealand in February 2026. The band then return to Europe in summer 2026 for a monumental run of new outdoor headline shows and festival appearances, beginning on 10 June at Malahide Castle, Ireland, and touring through Germany, Denmark, Czech Republic, Austria, Greece, Italy, Belgium, Portugal, France, UK, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, Norway and Lithuania. The run concludes back in France at Rock en Seine festival on 28 August - with further dates to be announced in between.

The epic season of live dates includes the now sold out UK-exclusive headline show at Preston Park in Brighton on Friday 31 July. This show isn't just a tour date, it's a homecoming. Nick Cave's connection to the city of Brighton is enduring and unique, making Preston Park 2026 a landmark moment in both the city's and the band's history.
