Na tien jaar op de planken en bijna honderd concerten in België en daarbuiten komt Iguazú Quintet met een gloednieuw album om deze jaren vol muziek, ontmoetingen en experimenten te vieren.
"Que le temps nous porte" is een diep persoonlijk, intiem en sprankelend album, met werken geschreven door de leden van het kwintet en composities die speciaal voor de groep werden gecomponeerd door verschillende Belgische, Franse en Argentijnse componisten.
Het album verkent muziek die geïnspireerd is door Zuid-Amerika en vervaagt tegelijk de grenzen tussen klassieke en populaire muziek. Daarbij put het vrijelijk uit de taal en de instrumenten van jazz, wereldmuziek en kamermuziek om een complex, uniek muzikaal verhaal te weven, dat zich werkelijk tussen twee werelden bevindt.
Op het programma staan werken van de volgende gastcomponisten: de Belgische pianist en accordeonist Jimmy Bonesso, de Franse gitarist Samuel Strouk, de Argentijnse gitarist Tomás Gubitsch en de Argentijnse pianist Pablo Murgier.

Almost two years after the release of his critically acclaimed album Karaoke Moon, Warhaus returns with new song The Baby, out today via Play It Again Sam.
Produced by longtime collaborator Jasper Maekelberg, The Baby sees Warhaus stepping into new territory. The track opens the door to a more electronic sonic palette, marking a shift from the sound of his previous work. In Warhaus' own words, The Baby is his first attempt at writing a lullaby, yet the track carries an energy and intensity far from a traditional lullaby. It begins with an alienating synth riff, beneath which a restrained, angular rhythm lies in wait, ready to launch a surprise attack. An ominous bass follows, and then there's that raw voice, snarling in our faces: "man where are you, are you under water? what are you? you do what you can?". Who is this man? What on earth are we listening to?
These are questions many listeners will ask themselves upon hearing The Baby. Even Maarten Devoldere himself seems somewhat overwhelmed by what he's become — as a musician, yes, but also as a person. Then the beat bursts forth, hurling itself headlong onto the dancefloor of a dark club, where it bounces around nervously, sending many a hip into a bewildering state of excitement.
Though he hasn't released new music in almost two years, Warhaus has remained very active. Following the release of Karaoke Moon, he spent much of 2025 on the road, playing more than 50 shows across Europe and the UK, including performances at some of the continent's most renowned venues and festivals.
Earlier this year, he took a different approach, touring a series of intimate shows alongside acclaimed classical pianist Julien Libeer. The performances saw the pair reimagining Warhaus' best-known songs in stripped-back arrangements, alongside previously unreleased material.
With The Baby, Warhaus now begins the next phase of his musical journey, one that promises to explore new territory while retaining the singular songwriting and atmosphere that have defined his work to date.

Icelandic singer-songwriter Ásgeir announced 'Julia (Deluxe Edition)', out September 9th via One Little Independent Records. Expanding on one of his most personal and acclaimed records to date, the deluxe edition will feature four bonus tracks, continuing with his revealing new single 'Hunter'.
On his fifth studio album, 'Julia', released in February, Icelandic singer-songwriter Ásgeir entered intriguing and uncharted territory. After years of engaging translators such as John Grant and working with the poetry of his father, Einar Georg Einarsson, Ásgeir penned his lyrics by himself for the first time in his long and celebrated career. The result was a deeply contemplative body of work, steeped in nostalgia, that saw Ásgeir meditating on his past regrets as well as his hopes for the future, guided by the spectre of the album's title character.
Ásgeir has long been lauded for his intricate folk-pop, lush production, and wistful, emotive falsetto. 'Julia' marked a shift toward not just lyrical self-reliance but cathartic directness, songs that felt not just exquisitely performed, but lived in. "This was kind of the first time I was writing lyrics totally on my own," he shared. "It was scary. I'm still trying to find myself within that. But I tried to open myself up and I learned a lot through that process, and it was definitely therapeutic for me."
One of Iceland's most successful exports, Ásgeir first broke through with 'Dýrð í dauðaþögn', the best-selling debut album in Icelandic history, before introducing international audiences to its English-language counterpart 'In the Silence'. He continued to refine his sound with 'Afterglow' in 2017, 'Bury the Moon' in 2020, and 'Time on My Hands' in 2022.

A Scent
‘A Scent’ is broeiende emocore post-punk: intens en urgent, en de voorbode van het debuutalbum dat in de prille ochtend van 2027 tot u zal komen. De song is geïnspireerd op Patrick Süskinds Het Parfum: het verlangen om iemands warmte en nabijheid vast te houden, tot het bijna beangstigend wordt.
Eosine was begin dit jaar finalist van De Nieuwe Lichting van Studio Brussel (And Now It Shows), raast momenteel, met de ravissante Luiks/Gentse Len Lacroix aan de mic, door een drukke festivalzomer (Dour, Sziget, Rock Herk, …) en is de komende weken zonder twijfel nog te zien op een podium bij u in de buurt.
Het viertal bouwde het voorbije jaar een brede fanbase uit in Nederland, met dikke shows op o.a. Into The Great Wide Open en Left Of The Dial, en een onvergetelijke supporttour met de Australische psychrockers van Psychedelic Porn Crumpets. En in juni nog maakten ze grote indruk in een uitverkochte TivoliVredenburg als opener voor Garbage.
Verdere Europese avonturen liggen in het verschiet, na opgemerkte passages het voorbije jaar op o.m. MENT (SI), The Great Escape (UK), Reeperbahn (DE), en vorige week dus nog in Hongarije (Sziget).
De plaat wordt voorgesteld in de AB op 5 februari. Niet te missen!

Frank Beard (77) overleden, drummer van Amerikaanse rockband ZZ Top
De Amerikaanse muzikant Frank Beard is overleden. Hij was de drummer van het Amerikaanse boogie- en rocktrio ZZ Top, dat in de jaren 70 en 80 grote successen kende. De rockband is momenteel op tour en heeft 2 komende optredens geannuleerd. Beard werd 77 jaar en is overleden in zijn ranch in Texas.
"Zijn kenmerkende ritme was cruciaal om ZZ Top aan de top te houden. De band waarvan hij 6 decennia lang deel uitmaakte, zal doorgaan zoals hij dat had gewild."
De drummer had al langer gezondheidsproblemen. Om die reden heeft ZZ Top een concert in Los Angeles geannuleerd eerder deze maand. ZZ Top zette de tour verder zonder Beard en verving hem door Michael Monahan.
Frank Beard is overleden op zijn ranch in Richmond, in Texas, in het bijzijn van zijn familie. Hij heeft 3 kinderen uit zijn 2e huwelijk. De doodsoorzaak is nog niet bekend. Beard werd 77 jaar.

Vanavond is de maan te zien tijdens een uitzonderlijke zonsverduistering, maar op vrijdag 19 februari 2027 kan je dé Maan live horen. De Nederlandse superster brengt haar pophits naar Trix in Antwerpen. Tickets zijn beschikbaar via livenation.be en trixonline.be.
Maan brak in 2016 door na haar winst bij The Voice of Holland. Dankzij songs als "Ze Huilt Maar Ze Lacht", "Blijven Slapen" met Snelle en "Stiekem" met Goldband veroverde ze haar plaats in de Nederlandstalige popmuziek. Ze speelde voor een uitverkochte Ziggo Dome en stond op het podium van festivals waaronder Pinkpop, 538 Koningsdag en Zwarte Cross. Op haar meest recente album 'Eclips' (2024) combineert ze elektronische invloeden met persoonlijke teksten. Op het podium vertaalt zich dat naar een strakke, visuele liveshow. Volgende week geeft ze al een voorsmaakje tijdens Pukkelpop en op 19 februari is Trix helemaal van haar!

LOFTPEOPLE - Wie zijn LOFTPEOPLE?
LOFTPEOPLE is een onafhankelijk Belgisch pop-rockduo rond Victoria Frederika Slusar en Joris Van Daele. De twee leerden elkaar als tieners kennen, maar begonnen pas twintig jaar later daadwerkelijk samen muziek te maken. Victoria neemt de zang, lyrics en zangmelodieën voor haar rekening; Joris staat in voor compositie, gitaar, andere instrumenten, productie, mix, mastering en de volledige technische afwerking. Vanuit hun thuisstudio creëren ze 90’s-geïnspireerde alternatieve pop-rock, volledig onafhankelijk en met een uitgesproken DIY-aanpak.
Muziek en invloeden
Joris heeft een brede muzikale achtergrond en werkte eerder vooral aan instrumentale muziek. Eind 2023 bracht hij het instrumentale album ‘Magic Number Eight’ uit, met invloeden uit onder meer de gitaarrock van artiesten als Steve Vai, Joe Satriani en John Petrucci. De nieuwe single: ‘Free’
Met ‘Free’ stelt LOFTPEOPLE een nieuwe single voor.
De videoclip werd opgenomen aan de kust in Oostende. Joris en Victoria trokken zonder uitgewerkt filmplan naar het strand, op zoek naar interessante locaties om te filmen. Dit met vrijwel geen budget (ok, buiten ongeveer €35 aan treintickets). Joris filmde alles met zijn smartphone en daarna deden Joris en Victoria samen de editing.

In the video accompanying the track, Eno Williams walks into the centre of the frame and unleashes the chorus refrain, ‘What is your concept of love?’, through a vocoder with warmth and urgency as the track locks into an Afro-disco pulse and she starts to chant in her native Ibibio language.
‘Concept of Love’ began life through a long process of reshaping and rebuilding before arriving at its final form as a soulful, electronic fusion that captures the spirit of the wider album, one that was made in reaction to an increasingly unstable world, holding onto ideas of love, resistance, togetherness and hope without losing sight of the dancefloor.
Williams explains that ‘Concept of Love’ “went through many different stages and ended up with a soulful, electronic Afro-disco feel. What you give out into the world is what you receive back, it's beautiful to be loved”
Recorded primarily at the band’s own Vanguard Studios in South London, Chopping Mountain marks the first Ibibio Sound Machine album produced by Grunhard since 2019’s Doko Mien. Following the Hot Chip-produced Electricity and the darker, club-focused direction of Pull the Rope, their new record feels both expansive and deeply rooted, drawing on the earthy textures of classic West African highlife alongside post-punk, Afrobeat, soul and electronic music.
Across the album, the eight-piece band sound sharper and more connected than ever, building songs through live jams, rhythmic experiments and instinctive interplay. Whether channeling the euphoric disco energy of ‘When You Want To Dance’, the spiritual intensity of ‘Return To Sender’ or the soulful highlife of ‘Love’, Chopping Mountain presents Ibibio Sound Machine as a group still evolving, still searching, and still firmly committed to joy as an act of resistance
